Solicitor is a full functional powerful WordPress Theme designed & developed for Law Business, Lawyers, Legal Websites and comes handy for Portfolio/Corporate Websites as well. It is fully responsive wordpress theme based on Twitter Bootstrap 3.x framework that makes it available for all screen sizes from the bigger ones to smartphones. Its not only responsive whereas it is retina ready also, now no blurry images on your HiDPI and retina devices.

How to use Solicitor Theme?

Solicitor is very easy to update and modify, it will adapt your website and brand in no time. Steps for modification and updating are described step by step in this exclusive documentation.

Installation


Tip: Before uploading the theme make sure you unzip the theme package downloadeded(All files & Documentation) from ThemeForest and inside of the unzipped folder upload the zip called "solicitor.zip"

To install this theme you must have a latest version of WordPress already installed. For information in regard to installing the WordPress platform, please see the WordPress Codex – http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

Installation

When you are ready to install a theme, you must first upload the theme files and then activate the theme itself. The theme files can be uploaded in two ways:

FTP Upload: Using your FTP program, upload the non-zipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server.

WordPress Upload: Navigate to Appearance > Add New Theme > Upload. Go to browse, and select the zipped theme folder. Hit “Install Now” and the theme will be uploaded and installed.

Once the theme is uploaded, you need to activate it. Go to Appearance > Themes and activate your chosen theme.

Plugins Installation


Tip: These plugins are freely available on Wordpress plugins directory

For multiple sidebars, meta fields, theme framework, Twitter feeds, Contact Forms, Shop we are using few free plugins.

Premium plugins included: Slider Revolution

Enable the Redux Framework plugin before doing anything with the theme. As per the new WordPress standards Theme's framework are now added as separate plugin. Once you install and activate the framework plugin, make sure you activate the theme options:

Plugins that must be installed and activated before the demo import are: Pojo Sidebars, Simple Twitter Tweets, WooCommerce - excelling eCommerce, Breadcrumb NavXT, Contact Form 7, Solicitor Core, Revolution Slider, Redux Framework, imic Shortcodes, Meta Box

For all post types including Team, Services, Events and Testimonials we are using our custom made plugin "Solicitor Core" plugin which needs to be installed to use all the theme features and post types

Installation

As soon as you activate the Solicitor Theme it will show up a message at top for the recommended plugins. Just go to Install Plugins page straight from the message box and follow up the screen instructions for further process. Please note you need to activate the plugins after the installation to get them to work for you.

If you have missed the recommended plugins message or have dismissed the alert box by mistake then these plugins can be installed from Appearance > Install Plugins

Installing the Demo Content


Tip: This is optional step but highly recommended. This will make your website look like the demo you see while purchasing this theme. You should activate all the recommended plugins before importing the content file.

This theme comes with a "One Click Demo" install interface which is located at Theme Options > Demo Importer. This option works great on a fresh wordpress install and it is recommended as well. Just click the "Import Demo" button and wait for couple of minutes for the theme to download all posts and placeholder images from our server. Once done you will just have to do some simple steps

Using traditional way of importing demo content

If you wish to the demo content via wordpress importer plugin and using wp native import command. For this you need to have the wordpress importer plugin installed on your website

Once installed activate the plugin (This step is not necessary if you already have the import plugin installed)

Now select the XML file from your theme download file "content.xml" , it will be in a folder called “Demo Content”

Once uploaded it will ask you to import the data into your WordPress user account select from the drop-down an existing user, also click on the check box that says “Download and import file attachments” Once complete all the data will be imported into your site.

Setting up the Homepage


Tip: This is the most important step to get your homepage show up as like the demo and use the template for homepage

To set up the homepage navigate to Settings > Reading and configure the “Front Page Displays” settings. Select the static page option and choose the home page as your front page and "blog" page as your posts page.

Assigning menus to their repective positions just move to Appearance > menus

Theme demo content comes with 7 menus already built. They are: Primary Menu(Used for main menu in header), Footer Menu(Website footer menu shown in the footer), Service menu(Used for service posts), Events Mega Menu, Features Mega Menu, News Mega Menu and Shop Mega Menu(All these 4 menus are there for you to use as custom menu in once of your sidebar to use in the megamenu of the website)

Importing the Widgets

Install and activate plugin Widgets Importer & Exporter. Now move to your Theme package folder "Demo Content" you can find a file widgets.wei in there, import it from Tools > Widgets Import/Export

Importing Theme Options Data

Theme options data is available in the Demo Content folder itself named theme-options.txt. Go to Theme Options > Import/Export and import data by copy pasting.

Start using our themes with page builder


Tip: Keep all the recommended plugins always up to date to ensure maximum compatibility with new WordPress version.

We have opted Site Origin Panels for our theme, its a free drag drop page builder which is regularly updated with new features and bug fixes and quite easy to use for everyone because it uses the most common thing of wordpress that is widgets as the page content blocks. So its like placing widgets in a sidebar to create a new page. We will be adding more and more widgets for our themes with every coming updates to make them all purpose themes.

Steps to started with the page builder use:

First thing before using the site origin panels page builder is to install the recommended free plugins on your website. The required plugins are: Site Origin Panels, So Widgets Bundle. Site origin panels is the page builder interface which works with widgets available in your theme.So widgets bundle is there free package of some useful widgets like pricing table, featured icon blocks, interactive maps, video widget and much more.

All of these plugins are required before you start using the page builder widgets of our themes. You can install them from the message comes in your dashboard as soon as you install theme. These plugins can also be installed and activated from Appearance > Install plugins

Theme built in widgets are included in the theme inside solicitor-framework > Page-builder folder. These widgets and So Widgets Bundle widgets needs to be activated before you can see them in your page builder interface. To activate the widgets just move to Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets where you see a page like below image:

Start building a page using the page builder widgets. Move to Pages > Add new where you will see an additional toggle tab at the content editor:

Page Design Options


Info: These options are available for all posts, pages, post types excluding testimonials as they have no single page view. Default values for these can be set at Theme Options

Below is the option to choose different layout type for individual page. Options are full width or boxed. For boxed layout you can add background image for the body space of the page. Theme default option here is to use the default option set at Theme Options ≡> Layout

Below option is to choose different header style for the individual page. There are 3 header styles available in the theme and any of the 3 can be chosen for any individual page/post. Theme default option here is to use the default option set at Theme Options ≡> Header

Theer are several option available for the page sub header, like you can show a colored background, any image, few images as a slider in FlexSlider or the Revolution Slider. You can completely hide the sub header as well.

Here you can choose option for the page title shown in the sub page header or can hide it from any individual page/post. You can set color of the page title and its alignment as well.

Content options can be used to define top and bottom padding of any page content area and the width of the page content to keep it either fixed width or 100% of screen. A background color or image can also be set for the content area of the individual page

You can show or hide social sharing links from the botton of the page content on any individual page/post using below option

Sidebar Options can be used to set a unique sidebars for any of your page/post, set its unique width or position left or right. You can create any number of sidebars to use on pages/posts using the theme recommended "Pojo Sidebars" plugin from Appearance ≡> Sidebars

WooCommerce


Solicitor theme supports basic WooCommerce integration. Once WooCommerce is activated you will see this notice:

Click on Run the Setup Wizard button to begin the WooCommerce install. That will start the setup wizard, where you can set things like shop pages, store locale, shipping & tax and payments.

Tip: If you have already imported the demo content then the required WooCommerce pages should already been created.

If you want to change some settings, you can change them in WooCommerce > Settings. There are many tabs at the top, you can configure to fit your needs.

Next, you can install the demo products by WooCommerce. Go to Tools » Import > WordPress and import the demo XML file which can be found in the folder where WooCommerce was installed on your server. Usually this is in wp-content/plugins/woocommerce. Find the file dummy-data.xml there and upload it to the server. Also check the Download and import file attachments check-box, so that all product images will be downloaded as well.

Grid system


Solicitor is based upon Twitter Bootstrap css framework that is very easy to use and adapt. It follows the mobile first approach to make the website readily available for all devices and screen sizes. Bootstrap grid is based upon 12 columns that are well defined in the bootstrap.css file inside the css folder. Icons font


Solicitor use font awesome icon fonts for its icons requirement and no images has been used for any icon. A complete list of icons along with the class names can be found here: http://fontawesome.io/cheatsheet/

To use an icon on any page of the theme use the below code:

            	
            

All icons class name will always start with the fa- . There are several sizes for icons are predefined in the fonts.css inside css folder. i.e. fa-lg, fa-2x, fa-3x

Changing color schemes


Solicitor comes with 10 predefined color schemes to use it handy. To change the color of the website navigate to Theme Options > Color Scheme
